Where in the world is it easiest to get rich?

In which society is it easiest to get rich? Contrary to common belief, it is not countries like the US or the UK that create the highest number of rich people per capita, but Nordic social democracies like Norway and Sweden. Counter-intuitive as it may sound, high taxes, generous welfare states and strong unions makes a better environment for the people who wants to earn huge amounts of money, than free markets, low taxes, and minimal government intervention.

  • Facing The Fear of Failure

    Facing The Fear of Failure

What would you do if you knew you could not fail? In his talk, Caleb puts this question forward to the audience and emphasises that there is value in failure. Caleb talks about his journey of overcoming fear through his 40 days challenge, a project in which he takes on challenges that people deem impossible and documents it on Youtube, sharing his experiences with the world. Through this incredible journey, Caleb explains that fear of failure can stop us from pursuing what we are passionate about, and that facing our fears helps to develop courage, strength and character. Giving ourselves permission to fail frees us up to dream, it frees us to go for things you might never have dreamt of going for.

Caleb Meakins graduated from University with a Masters in Civil Engineering, however after winning the Social Enterprise Award at his University he decided to embark on a career trying to start businesses. He quickly realised the crippling effect of the fear of failure and launched My 40 Days; a social project that attempts to tackle the stigma attached to failing. The project has taken him to sports stadiums, red carpets and even earned him Milkround’s ‘Graduate of the Year’ award. Caleb now goes round the country speaking to companies, universities and schools.

  • How I lost my identity but found my worth

How I lost my identity but found my worth

The inevitability of change and transition is petrifying; our identity is constantly called into question as things end, begin, or shift. As a just-graduated college student and former D1 soccer player, the largest components of how Jeannie identified had been stripped, leaving her raw and exposed. However, it was only in that most vulnerable state, that she caught glimpses of the person she would become.

Jeannie Woller graduated from Utah State University with a BS in English. She served as goalkeeper for Utah State University’s women’s soccer team and received numerous team, regional, and national accolades, both athletic and academic.

As an undergraduate, Jeannie participated in Ignite USU, a student speaker series held during Research Week. She was a 3-year member of USU’s Slam Poetry team, continuously striving to find a creative identity to pair with her overwhelmingly athletic one.

Jeannie works in Salt Lake City as a goalkeeper coach, a reading, and writing tutor, as well as an audio production Intern for a local storytelling event.

Jeannie wants you to forget all these facts about her, because her goal in life is to not continually introduce herself with her past successes, but instead as someone who wants to understand how the mind can connect with the voice in order to highlight individual and shared experiences. She is figuring out a way to make that her career.
